Today, Scott Townsend, Legacy STEM Director, and Ms Natasha Forge, Legacy HS Guidance Counselor, will share information on a subject on which we have some alarming data. We will share statistics around suicide, the definition of terms, and the process involved that we must take when we hear about a student’s suicidal ideation at school.
We will also reflect on this from a national perspective. We’ll share some numbers from sources such as the Center for Disease Control, National Institute of Health, Harvard Medical School.
We will also talk about the main risk factors for suicide, how we can work together with parents when a child has shown suicide ideation, and finally, some prevention techniques of which to be aware.
